I spent the last day trying to compile as complete of a material list as best I could and then deciding where to source the hardware. I saved some money by buying from one of our Marina suppliers, a wholesaler called CWR.
I copied the technique used by the Explorist and attempted to list every item need for each subsystem.
I then used XLS to count and sum up the parts of each unique item. I combined this with my major component list. I also used XLS to find the source with the lowest price and sum it all up. Yes, it is a big number. I am amazed that I see people on the internet getting their RVs upgraded to lithium and paying someone to do it, it must be costing them over $10K.
I have ordered all components except the Xantrex Inverter/Charger and the Kisae DC-DC charger. This is because I returned an item and want to make sure they give me the credit before I order. Hopefully will clear in a few days.
Over the next few days, I will basically be removing the old components and preparing for the install of the new components. I am going to have to abandon a some wiring in place because much of it is buried under cabinets etc. in the RV.
I expect the components to trickle in over the next few weeks with the longest lead-time being the batteries which will not ship until the 20th of January. I am hopeful that I will have everything in place by then and only need to drop in the batteries to make it work.
